The Shariz Sultanate was a realm in Arrakis. The small nation, located in the harsh deserts surrounding the city of Shariz, maintained cordial relations with its neighbouring city of Garantinople and was well known for its unique desert culture, minor trade involving poppies and oil, and the stewardship of the al Juba dynasty. All international trade went through the coastal town of Qalyut, with its small port bustling under the towering watch of the nearby castle. The religion of Shariz was a branch of Anoucherism, the religion found in Haram.
Despite being a coastal nation, Shariz never had a large navy, usually maintaining only one small galley to patrol the its coasts.
