Royal Blades

The Royal Blades are the elite household guard of the Prince-Sovereign of Montebianco. Their duties are to protect the Prince-Sovereign, patrol the palace, and protect the ruling family. The Blades elect among themselves the First Blade, who sits on the High Council. This position is held until death or retirement. Royal Blades are appointed by the Prince-Sovereign, with appointees usually representing in equal parts the finest soldiers within the Montebianco military and the competent sons of loyal bourgeois.

Members of the Royal Blades upon inauguration are equipped with a longsword, a pair of flintlock pistols, a musket, and a long cloak in red and yellow. The unique outfit distinguishes them on the battlefield, inspiring allies and striking fear into foes.

There are roughly 30 members.
