View of Serrentino from the Inner Sea

Serrentino is the capital and only notable city in the Principality of Montebianco. It is located on the eastern end of the Inner Sea just north of the Strait of Levcovouno. The city is defined by its cramped living conditions in areas and spacious luxury apartments in others.

History

The city began as a small trading post on the eastern fringes of the Archadian Empire. After the empire's retreat, the city began to govern itself as a sort of republic led by the nobility. Serrentino was threatened during the Barbarian Invasions, where many savage tribes, including Thurians, attempted to take the city for themselves. The last of these great invasions was thwarted by the trio of legendary brothers Veles, Porenutius, and Rugievitus at the Battle of Serrentino. This victory is historically considered to be the founding of the Principality of Montebianco with Veles as its first Prince.

Serrentino, as the capital of this new nation, became the economic and political centre of the realm. The city and its village sprawl eventually grew over time to make the city a respectably large settlement which grants its rulers great influence in the Inner Sea.

As is typical for many cities, Serrentino has areas of incredible wealth and areas of incredible poverty. The Centro district neighbouring the royal palace is known for its wealthy aristocratic-like residents and its high-stakes commercial businesses. Meanwhile, the Occidente district is mostly home to poor farmers and destitute drunkards who line the streets with their alcohol stenched stupor.

In 1120 AIC, the city hosted the Serrentino Conference, welcoming diplomats from every corner of Pluribus.
