Vineta [wineta] is the capital city of the Lonian League. It is located on the river Lon. It is one of the biggest cities in Pluribus.

History

The earliest settlements at the fork of the Lon and the Jul have been founded over a milennia ago. Previously nomadic peoples had settled at the banks of both rivers, where there was plentiful game and rich fishgrounds to be found. Vineta and Julin were both founded around the same time shortly after the Barbarian Invasions, but it is not clear which came first. Both settlements were divided by the Jul, and the quick currents seperated these both economically as well as militarily.

Vineta, ca. 600 AIC

The first walled settlement, which eventually became the old city center of Vineta, was founded sometime around 600 AIC. The Vinetan peninsula was then disconnected from the rest by a sidearm of the Jul estuary, which provided sufficient defense against raiders and allowed Vineta to flourish and control trade at least along the Lon.
