Optimus Garantius XVII (155 - 214 AIC) was emperor of the Archadian Empire from 176 AIC until his death. His reign saw the tension with Thure erupt into the Great Inner Sea War, which he was assassinated during.
Reign
The reign of Garantius XVII was marked with the growing tension between Thure and the Archadian Empire. Thure, led by Ragnar Firebeard, claimed the province of Praxidea for themselves. The emperor attempted to negotiate a long-lasting peace with the vikings by giving many concessions, even handing over land in the province to them. However, this did not last, and Thure, emboldened by an alliance with Nosamo, declared war starting the Imperial Spring.
Personal Life
Optimus had one daughter, Basilia, who succeeded him.
Optimus was great friends with his Praefectus Iudiciarii, Servius Magnus Makesinus.
