The Duality Symbol of the Cult of the Solar Twins

The Cult of the Solar Twins, also called the Domhardt Cult (or Domhardt Heresy, according to Omnican and Sotiran Orthodox clergy), is a sect derived from the Sotiran branch of Aurelianity. It is practiced in large parts of central Hasperia, mainly centered in Silvetia and originated in the St.Domhardt monastery.

Theology

The centerpiece of the Solar Twins theology is the duality inherent in Sol Invictus. The Cultists believe that each thing, material or immaterial, is comprised of two exact opposites. Where there is light, there has to be an equal shadow. Where there is heat, there has to be equal coldness. Where there is good fortune, there has to be equal misery. Sol Invictus himself is both sides at the same time, he is oneness in duality, he alone is the Solar Twins.

Practices

While no concrete facts about the Cult are publically known for sure, there are numerous rumours about Cultist practices. It is said that the Cultists create misery to bring about goodness, ranging from self-chastising to - allegedly - human sacrifices.

History

Brother Domhardt, third abbot of the St.Domhardt Monastery, is said to have founded the Cult in 955 AIC, when a tragedy in the monastery took the lives of three of his brothers during a terrible draught. Three days later the rain returned to the region, bringing relief to the people of the Schwarzwasser valley. After experimenting with self-chastising and animal sacrifices, he found that each of his bad deeds was followed by a good event of similar impact. After researching ancient heathen practices of pre-Aurelian Archadia, Brother Domhardt finally wrote down the foundation of his Cult in the Equilibrium of the Solar Twins, also called the Equilibrium or the Domhardt Script. During the Silvetian Revolution, many survivors of the sack of Schwarzbrücken sought protection in the St.Domhardt monastery, alledgedly leading to an increase in Cultist numbers.
