The Pirate Raid on Seedorf was a violent act of terror by the pirate Enguerrand de Rochenoire then known as Black Eye.

The Raid

The raid took place on a dark dawn and the pirates targeted mostly fishermen, stealing their food, tools and materials, the few valuables they had and also kidnapped women.
The raid caused the surprised Greifenhausen to care more about their naval defences.

When the news about the pirate attack reached Redharbor, Azurien, as the self-proclaimed protector of the eastern sea, sent out one fregate, the ASS Victory to either capture or sink the pirate ship.

After 10 days the ASS Victory sighted a ship with black sails not making any pace. After warning shots were fired the Azurien seamen boarded the ship to find the pirates dying out of thirst. They took the ship as prize and the rest of the pirates as captives to bring them to justice in Greifenhausen.

In the following night they were hit by a storm the crew had never seen before. The waves were crushing down on the shores. Thunder stroke the sea. At one point the people thought the sea would just devour half the coastline. Many prayed to Azura for the save return of their sailors at sea, but when the sky lightened again no sail where seen at the horizon.
They tried to avoid the storm, but were taken way too far north-east and were lost. Took them 2 weeks sailing to see the shores again.
The ship eventually returned to Redharbor, with only half the crew was still alive, and the supplies were almost at the end, but its was still floating and the red flag was still running up.

Aftermath

Greifenhausen clearly sees the responsibility at Desteylle, as the pirate captain is an aristocrat of Desteylle. At the Serrentino Conference the representative from Greifenhausen demanded reparations for the attack, but left the talks when they weren't granted and none of the other nations showed any empathy.
