Vissegrad is a town in the Second Archadian Empire. The town is located on the south-eastern shore of lake Pontus, it stands on a steep hill that sinks towards the lake, surmounted by the Count's (Zoltán Hunyadi) castle.

History

Not much is known of the town's origin. Historian know that a small Archadian fortification existed there, owing to the site's strategic importance, controlling the only road drivable between the passes at Mons Sol and Pontica. This fortification was most likely sacked & abandonned during the Great Migration.

The current town was created around 600 AIC by invading Nicolovians, who built a new wooden fort on top of the Archadian Ruins.

The town is primarely known for having seen extensive use as Capital of the Holy Archadian Empire under emperor Baldassare Velisario, and being the location of his supposed murder at the hand of Sotiran fundamentalists. The Edict of Vissegrad, resulting of the meeting of the Consilium Basileii called by the Emperor at the time, was first announced there, hence its name.

Count's Castle

The infamous castle of the count of Vissegrad, as beautifull as it is, is mainly known for being the place of Emperor Baldassare Velisario's murder. Details about the murder are scarce, but what is known for sure is that the body was found beneath the Count's bedroom's window, most likely thrown out of the window by his agressor. Vissegrad Temple

While the Emperor stayed at the Count's Castle, the Consilium Basileii had its meetings inside the temple, which had its furniture changed for the occasion. Envoys from over the empire who weren't residing inside the castle during their stay slept in the surrounding houses. [Modeled of Church of St-Judoc, Český Krumlov (CZ). IG builder: Tumultuosus]
