The Faendish Empire, also known as Faendal, is a realm in western Hasperia. Its capital is Faestadt. Faendalers are mostly Omnicans are follow the local Heliarch.
History
The Duchy of Faendal was a loyal, constituent, and core territory of the Holy Archadian Empire, united by their common Omnican Aurelianity. However, when news of the decree by Prince Nicodemus, wherein he dissolved the Heliarchy reached Duke Matthias of Faendal, he used the anger of the populace to vie for independence. He influenced the local cardinals, bishops, and archbishops of the duchy into calling for a conclave to elect a new Heliarch who would have his seat in the city of Faestadt.
The conclave was a sad sight as no foreign cardinals chose to attend. The few cardinals still elected a Heliarch, who chose the name Gregory. Duke Matthias granted the old castle in Faestadt with its belonging church to the Heliarch, where Heliarch Gregory resided, recognised only by the Duke and his followers.
In a secret meeting between Duke Matthias and Heliarch, the Heliarch agreed to crown the Duke as Emperor of Faendal, marking the beginning of the Faendish Empire. A crown that was forged from the melted Winged Lion Throne sent in desperation by Empress Berenike was used in the coronation. It is unknown what the Duke promised the Heliarch in return for this.
