While ''Silvetian Mountains'' is the official name of the mountain range, the use of which is encouraged by the [[Silvetia]]n government, the local populace uses a completely different reference:
''Dämonenkamm'', roughly translating to ''Demon's Ridge'', is widely used all over Silvetia and the [[Lonian Assembly]]. That name hints at the countless fairy tales and horror stories told about this region, which is alleged to be the home of a vast number of ogres, trolls, gnomes, haunted creeks, and demons turned into trees by the old gods.
In scholarly circles the area is often referred to as ''Silvam Montes'', though [[Archadia]]n scholars point out that this name cannot be found in any of the old Archadian documents.

== Economy ==
The slopes of the Silvetian Mountains are rich in minerals, timber, and game. With its many creeks and rivers, the majority of downhill transportation is done by timber rafts. On the Silvetian side, there are natural hot springs in Bad Erzquell, making that town a Spa town attracting many wealthy travellers from near and far.
