The earliest settlements at the fork of the [[Lon]] and the [[Jul]] have been founded over a milennia ago. Previously nomadic peoples had settled at the banks of both rivers, where there was plentiful game and rich fishgrounds to be found. Vineta and [[Julin]] were both founded around the same time shortly after the Barbarian Invasions, but it is not clear which came first. Both settlements were divided by the Jul, and the quick currents seperated these both economically as well as militarily.

The first walled settlement, which eventually became the old city center of Vineta, was founded sometime around 600 AIC.
