The history of [[Azurien]] is closely linked to the history of the Azurian people and involves two different states named Azurien, whereas the first one was destroyed.

==Rise of a People==
Long before the [[Azuran]] faith spead or other great nations noticed an emerging nation there wes a people on another continent living simple lives in loose organization. At one time some of these people were forced to move off their homeland, causing a larger migration period, probably because of war. One larger group later founded [[Landaende]] while the second larger group of people found a giant statue on top of a dead volcano. The people believed this to be a divine sign and prayed to it. The goddess [[Azura]] appeared and the people called themselfes azurians from there on. It was then when the first azurian nation was found.

==First Nation of Azurien==
The newly found nation was mostly characterized by peace and prosperity. Azurians discovered their talent in mining valuable ressources and the volcanic land (some of them more or less active) was fertile. After founding a larger harbor and tradeships trade extended to more than just Landaende. In [[Hasperia]] Azurien was known as that distant nation trading exotic materials, mostly with [[Eisenfelde]], which had a ship in almost every harbor at that time. 
Azurien had no influence on the political events that were defining Hasperia at that time.

==Fire and Chains==
In 820 [[Timeline|AIC]] the volcano on which the statue of Azura stood and azurians build their capital erupted, probably causing other volcanos in that area to erupt whereby most of the land was covered in fire or ash making it uninhabitable. Only those lucky enough to live near the coastlines or were a sea at that time were able to flee the land. 
The fleet of refugees came to the westcoast of Hasperia. Unfortunately they came to the sphere of influence of [[Izalith of the Falmoreal Valley|Izalith]] and [[Whitegold]], which were slavers cities back then. Azurians were not able to make a stand at that point and found themselfes as slaves for the next decades.

Izalith was very involved in trade with [[Vineta]], but tensions rose when Vineta was less and less competitive due to the cheap slave workers. When azurians (alongside with other slaves) rebelled against their slavemasters in 880 AIC they were supported by [[Lonien]]. The rebellion quickly spread across the land and also reached Whitegold.

At the end azurians founded Azurien again, which technically is the second one, although azurians don't see it that way.

==The new Azurien==
Although most of the people still lived in Izalith and Whitegold, the new capital [[Tel Aldnium]] was founded and it began the construction of a new statue of Azura. The new state of Azurien focused on defense and trade at the time, rebuilding old fortresses at the mountain passes and starting new ones at the coastline. WIth their expertise in mining they quickly became an important trade partner for the surrounding nations. After establishing a stable society, Azurien focused more on naval power. Foreign policy was characterized by condemnent of any kind of suppression leading to a heavy involvment in the [[Silvetian Revolution]].

Today Azurien is the major power in the eastern sea with an influence that reaches from [[Greifenhausen]] to the [[Spice Islands]] and maintains diplomatic ties to many other nations.

==Days of the Prophetess and the End of a Nation==
After the death of the High Priest and their ritual at the [[Shrine of the Eternal Flame|Eternal Flame]] the Priests received a vision of a young Sister of Mercy to be the new High Priest, or Priestess. Since Priesthood is withheld to men only, this resulted in a crisis, with the priests split on the matter.

It was eventually resolved that the young sister would become the new High Priestess. Unlike the High Priest before her she was much more involved in the politics and her decisions quickly brought Azurien a golden age with conflicts of the past resolved, trade prospering and the land fertile. Thus she was called The [[Prophetess]] by the people. On the island at the mouth of the [[Oudariel]] a statue was build in her honor, depicting her with open arms, welcoming anyone to the grace of Azurien.

After about half a century, she was murdered by one of the priests that once opposed her appointment as the High Priestess. Only a few days later Azurien was hit by a cataclysma of natural catatrophies. Tsunamis hit the coastlines completely reshaping them. Massive landslides from the slopes of [[Mount Heightlimit]] buried the southern lands. In Tel Aldnium, fires broke out and ravaged the whole city. In the end multiple settlements were either buried under landslides or lost to the sea. The capital was abandoned and the Azurian people split into different groups.

==A Shattered Land==
Today the former capital is abandoned, survivors split into different groups. Those still following the Azuran faith searched for help with the Sisters of Mercy. They settled down directly next to their abbey forming a matriarchy ruled by the sisters, calling the combined settlement [[Adaslenya]] ('Temple Mother'). They control the area around the fertile lowlands.

Others completely abandoned their faith and formed a new society with a more rational approach to natural hazards. They formed the coastal town [[An-ruhn]] ('New Home') and quickly spread along the coastline with their fleet of small coastal boats and craftsmanship. Their sphere of influence also includes the city of Nicenstein, which was miraculously spared by the catastrophes and the remains of the Fortress at the lost Redharbor, which they call [[Vasha Trumbei]] ('Lost Fortress').

Outside Tel Aldnium survivors formed a shanty town of barracks and hastily built shacks that is called [[Dunbek]] ('Dark Village'). Even if the bridge wasn't destroyed, no one would go back to the former capital, which is now called [[Chi-Tel]] ('Changed Tower').

The southern high lands are controlled by clan-ish remains of the Azuran faith who believe the estrangement from nature was the reason for the cataclysmic events. Their first settlement is called [[Eltpoli]] ('Holy Seed').

== Early Life and the Curia ==
Vincenzo della Rovere was born to Antonio della Rovere, a destitute merchant of Archadia, as a third son. Vincenzo's grandfather, Giovanni, was a curator by census during the [[Tor Ardwen]] regime, but he lost most of the family wealth in risky trade deals. As Giovanni was a [[Sotiranity|Sotiran]], the family situtation did not improve much after the conquest of [[István Nagy]] in 840. Even though Antonio publicly renounced the religion (like many other Archadians), suspicions remained high especially during the last decade, in which Antonio's children were born (Pietro in 840 and Ottavio in 842). As such, young Vincenzo grew up in a period of fear, both of István Nagy's secret agents and St. Kastor inquisition search for heretics, and of the Archadian Omnicans possible retributions. Nevertheless, through skill and determination of Antonio (and later of the Pietro), the family slowly managed to reclaim some of its wealth.

Vincenzo soon realised that he had no skill for business and rather turned to politics. In 859, he became aide to Curator Gaetano Scarpia and following [[Ottavio Makesini]]'s ascension to the throne, he could start focusing on his carreer in full as the period of fear for Sotirans was over. In 862, he became aedil in the Archontium and finally, in 867, was elected as a curator (as opposed to his grandfater, who was appointed by census). He managed to win every subsequent election and remained a curator until his death. In 872, he was elected as Archon, becoming the youngest Archon of Archadia in recent history. In total, he held the position from 872 to 876 and from 880 until his death. In addition to that, he also served as the member of Consilium Basileii as the representative of Archadia.

== Imperial Civil War ==

Vincenzo della Rovere continued to serve Archadia and the Empire even after the death of emperor Ottavio. In 878, he was appointed as Archon Extraordinarius to represent Archadia on the [[Council of Vissegrad]] called by Emperor [[Baldassare Velisario]], due to the sudden death of the the original representative, Archon Lorenzo Toscanini. As such, he attended the fateful event that saw the assassination of Baldassare and became engulfed in the events that culminated in the ceasefire between the Consilium and the Regency of [[Berenike Garantia]]. He was reprimanded by the Curia for his actions, as they were deemed too liberal for being merely an extraordinary representative, even though he had the full backing of Archadia's second representative, Archon Pietro Mascagni. It also did not prevent his second election as Archon in 880.

His position was endangered in 882, when he was accused by Empress Berenike of the murder of Emperor [[Cleon Garantius]]. When the Curia was asked to release him to Imperial custody, he was protected however, and managed to turn the tide by proposing to legalise the [[Edict of Vissegrad]], created by late Emperor Baldassare, to a great success. This marked the beginning of the short, but bloody [[Imperial Civil War]]. He quickly assumed command of the Consilium Forces, allong with [[Joseph von Wallenstein]] and [[Lodovico di Gonzaga]]. Together, they led their armies to victory in the [[Battle of Lake Pontus]] in 883. However, following his return to Archadia after the battle, he died suddenly of a heart attack. Vincenzo never married and died without any children.

== Later Rumours ==

Long after his death, rumours occasionally spread throughout Archadia that Vincenzo della Rovere was behind the assassination of Emperor Baldassare and that he later committed suicide to avoid justice. These rumours have never been proven and are most likely mere urban legends.

In 170 AIC, Servius was appointed as Procurator Iustitiae Archadiae Superior, the High Judge of proconsular province [[Archadia Superior]]. Three years later, he was the youngest person ever to be appointed Propraetor Iuris, High Judge of the Empire. Many believed, both at the time and after the fact, that these accomplishments so young were only achieved due to his close relationship with the Emperor [[Garantius XVI]] and his son [[Optimus Garantius XVII|Optimus]].

In 174 AIC, Servius tutored [[Optimus Garantius XVII|Optimus]], then 19, teaching him philosophy and law.

In 178 AIC, having served 5 years as Propraetor Iuris, Servius resigned, as was customary. However, to use his experience in Tribunal Iuris, the Emperor appointed him Praefectus Iudiciarii, Emperor's representative for justice. Servius remained in this position until his death, even though his duties changed a lot after the reforms of Emperor [[Garantius XVII]].

=== Under Garantius XVII ===
After the ascension of [[Optimus Garantius XVII]] to the [[Winged Lions Throne]], Servius Magnus Makesinus was tasked with evaluating the state administration and to propose
reform where it was needed. Thus began the monumental work [[Bonus Status]], named after its first sentence, “''Bonus status rei publicae suprema lege esto''". [A good state of administration must be the highest law.]. In this book, Servius describes the many negatives of the contemporary system and proposed a large reform that would affect almost every part of the Empire. Bonus Status was finished after 6 years of writing, in the year 189 AIC.

Soon after, the Emperor began enacting these reforms, beginning with abolishing the office of Procurator pro Administrando, who was responsible for Imperial administration, and giving his field to Praefectus Iudiciarii, held by Servius Magnus Makesinus. Therefore, Servius was in charge of implementing all his suggested reforms. These reforms were generally well received by the public, combatting nepotism and corruption.

Servius was fond of Princess [[Basilia Garantia XIX|Basilia]]. He introduced the princess to his nephew, [[Gnaeus Magnus Makesinus]], and the two were close friends.

In 212 AIC, a plan was devised where Servius would lead an attack on [[Turiana]] from the undefended flank whilst a diversionary attack was led from [[Praxidea]]. This was not carried out with the emperor preferring to negotiate instead.

In 215 AIC, whilst the province of [[Lorem Ipsum]] was in revolt and the Emperor was negotating talks with [[Turiana]], Servius Magnus Makesinus was left in charge of the Empire, planning alliances with [[Haram]] and talks with [[Nosamo]].

== Imperial Spring, Civil War, and decline==
During the [[Imperial Spring]], Servius Magnus Makesinus was effectively in command of the [[Archadian Empire]], with the death of [[Archadian Emperors|Emperor]] [[Optimus Garantius XVII]] in 216 AIC. He controversially instigated a revolt of the Curia against the Emperor's heir, his nephew Archadius, which saw him stripped of his absolute power. This created a schism between the Imperial and Curial loyalists, leading to a brief [[Archadian Civil War|civil war]] in 220 AIC. The war ended in the victory of Curia and the end of [[Archadian Emperors|House Garantius]] in its male line, as emperor [[Archadius Garantius XVIII]] was executed, which many believe was ordered by Servius Makesinus himself. However, he did not savour this victory for long, as tradition holds that he died later on the same day, apparently punished by gods.

In 221 AIC, Servius Magnus Makesinus, now showing signs of his advanced age, was stripped of hi positions of Archon Supremus and Praefectus Iudiciarii and imprisoned in the palace. Fearing a coup, [[Familia Makesini]] fled the city. Two days lady, Legio II, supporting Servius, clashed with Legio I whilst freeing the demoted. The Emperor's brother and heir, Lepidus, was killed during the fighting, whilst the Emperor himself fled. The city soon surrendered to Servius, who had the Emperor arrested and charged with high treason.

Servius grew more weak and ill with every passing day, requiring a doctor constantly by his side. Though some say he had no part in it, he attended the execution of the Emperor, and died 5 hours after the regicide by heart attack. His last words were said to be "Forgive me, Garantius. Forgive me, my friend".

== Writings ==
Servius' first written piece was [[Iusta Imperia Sunto]], writte in 170 AIC, a comparative study of royal and imperial administration which brought him widespread fame and started his career in justice.

In philosophy and law, Makesinus is mostly known for his work [[Bonus Status Rei Publicae]], a philosophical and legal work describing a perfect state. The work served as the basis for Imperial Administration all the way to the fall of the Empire, and is even nowadays cited as the primary source of Archadian law.

== Personal Life ==
Servius Magnus Makesinus married [[Claudia Verra Antonia]] in 173 AIC. They had four children: [[Julia Makesinus|Julia]], [[Lucretia Makesinus|Lucretia]], [[Quintus Makesinus|Quintus]], and [[Gaius Makesinus|Gaius]]. After losing his two daughters to circumstance and otherwise disinheriting his sons, Servius choose [[Gnaeus Magnus Makesinus]] to be the heir of [[Familia Makesini]].

Servius likely did not love his wife. He spoke of a happy and stable marriage deriving from "Commitment, self-sacrifice, friendship. If you add love as a bonus, so be it. But love itself? Chaos, ignorance, dark thoughts."

Lydia Feuerhaar was born in [[Vineta]] as Lydia Fassbinder. She grew up as an orphan in the streets of [[Julin]]. Like most of the orphans, she was the child of some low class sailors or dock worker, who did not want another mouth to feed. Together with other orphans she stole whatever she needed for her living. As a child of age six she was able to sneak a board the merchant ships undetected and stole food and whatever was worth to sell. At age ten she broke into local merchant stores and warehouses in all of Vineta. At age 14 she broke into the house of one of the wealthier families of [[Lonien]], where she waqs spotted by a guard. She then murdered that guard and had to flee Vineta as she was now a wanted person. 

She left Lonien aboard a merchant ship as a blind passenger. For a couple of years she worked on different trade ships - always stealing the money and valuables before making port and disappearing into the city. Grewing up in Vineta she learned a lot about how to close deals. Her capacity to negotiate was soon known at many ports around [[Hasperia]]. She is suspected of the participation if not organization of theft and robbery in many harbor cities. Most notable are the theft of golden insigne from [[Leopoli]], robbery of the [[Serrentino]] treasury and a diamond theft at [[Whiteharbor]]. On one of her voyages she met an azurian politician, whom she had an affair with. She lived in [[Tel Aldnium]] for while and learned about the ways of the government. 

It is rumored that at this time she came in the service of [[Enguerrand de Rochenoire]] and he took her as apprentice before he bacame known as a pirate. 

At age 24 she came into service on a pirate ship and participated in raids of small fishing villages. She mutinied by murdering her captain and the first mate and took over command.

Eventually, the two families agreed to a marriage to cement the ties between Archadia and Pontica and Lodovico was betrothed to Ottavio's only child, [[Lucrezia Makesini|Lucrezia]]. In 859 AIC, Federico feared of the growing threat of the [[Nicolovian Civil War]] and Lodovico was called back home. As such, neither man could protest when in 860 AIC, after István Nagy was assassinated and Ottavio became the new Emperor, the betrothal to Lucrezia was broken as her future marriage suddenly became a matter of state. The family ties however were not forgotten and in 866 AIC Lodovico married Ottavio's cousin, Maria. They had one son, [[Enrico di Gonzaga|Enrico]].

== Imperial Service ==
In 871 AIC, Federico di Gonzaga died and Lodovico inherited the title, as well as the membership of the Consilium Basileii, the Imperial Parliament. Ottavio then took Lodovico under his wings, tutoring him on the matters of politics, rulership and Archadian traditions, which Ottavio considered more important than even the Empire. As the ageing Emperor feared the ideals of his son-in-law and heir, [[Baldassare Velisario]], he hoped to groom Lodovico into his heir politically, if not dynastically. To ensure that Lodovico would have the necessary authority to outweigh Baldassare, Ottavio named him Procurator Basileii in 872 AIC, the Emperor's representative and deputy should his health deteriorate. In 874 AIC, Baldassare visited [[Archadia (city)|Urbs Archadia]] with the whole Imperial family to visit the now dying Emperor one last time. On his death bed, Ottavio wanted to remedy the old insult of breaking Lodovico's betrothal and asked Baldassare to have Lodovico's son Enrico betrothed to Baldassare's youngest daughter (and thus Ottavio's granddaughter), [[Irulan Garantia|Irulan]].

Following Ottavio's death in 874 AIC, the new Emperor Baldassare decided to move the capital to [[Garantinople|Garantinopolis]] and named Lodovico Procurator Archadiae, his deputy in the old capital, whose task was to oversee the many reconstruction projects undergoing in the city. It is likely that Baldassare named Lodovico not only because of his loyalty, but also to limit the power of the [[Curia]], as Lodovico remained a foreigner in Archadia. For 4 years Lodovico carefully manoeuvred between his duties to the Empire and his belief that the Curia should rule supreme in the city. Following the death of the [[Heliarch]] [[Antonius Pius]] in 873 AIC and with the growing tension between [[Omnicanism|Omnicans]] and [[Sotiranity|Sotirans]], Baldassare called the [[Council of Vissegrad]] in 878 AIC, a joint meeting of the Consilim and the College of Cardinals to discuss and solve various issues of faith. However, the Council ended with Baldassare's assassination, which plunged the Empire into chaos.

== Regency and Civil War ==
As Baldassare's oldest child, princess [[Berenike Garantina]] immediately assumed regency for her minor brother, [[Jahangir|Nicodemos]], and then for [[Cleon Garantius|Cleon]] after Nicodemos' disappearance. Lodovico assumed an official leadership of the Consilium, with his main goals being to ensure the continuing reign of the Consilium in the Empire as it was under Ottavio and Baldassare, as well preventing a civil war should the Consilium and Regency become too opposite in their views, preferring a compromise. Lodovico managed forge an uneasy alliance with the Regency, mainly with the assistance of [[Vincenzo della Rovere]], one of Archadia's Archons, and [[Joseph von Wallenstein]], the Duke of [[Krachenmehr]]. The conflict between the two religions, while becoming more and more bloody, was moved to the background as Lodovico's primary concern became the continuation of the peace between the two factions.

The relations between the two quickly soured in 881 AIC when Cleon was crowned the new Emperor and was wed to his own sister, the former regent Berenike. The Consilium accused Berenike of trying to usurp absolute power. To ensure more efficient ways of communicating with the Throne, Lodovico was elected the Praetor Consilii, Consilium's speaker before the Emperor. When Cleon suddenly died the next year, Berenike assumed autocracy and declared war on all Sotirans. In an act of defiance, Archadia and [[Nicoloviana]] legalised Sotiranity, following the rules of Baldassare's [[Edict of Vissegrad]]. Berenike branded them all traitors and ordered the Imperial armies against the forces of the Consilium. Lodovico stayed loyal to the ideals of Archadia and joined the forces of Consilium.

Following the short, but bloody war, Berenike was defeated in 883 AIC and her lost brother Nicodemos, returning from exile, took the throne under the name Jahangir. He accused Archadia of creating chaos and instability in the Empire and decided to punish the city by granting it independence (or, in his word, exiling it from the Empire forever). Lodovico, with the help of Joseph von Wallenstein and [[Lorenzo Makesini]] of Archadia managed to keep a large part of the Hasperian part of the Empire together, creating the Second Archadian Empire.

== Second Empire ==
Lodovico returned to Archadia with his soon to be daughter-in-law, Irulan, now the crown princess of the Empire. Endless discussions then went on in the Curia and the remnant of the Consilium on how the Empire should continue, with many arguing that Irulan should be crowned Empress. However, the Curia feared the power of Lodovico, who was seen as just one step from becoming an autocrat himself. In the end, Nicodemos was acknowledged as the rightful ruler, as the Curia did not want the throne to be controlled by Lodovico. On Lorenzo's advice, who feared that Lodovico might be assassinated soon, Lodovico then resigned from all his political positions (though he remained the count of Pontica) and returned to his hometown along with Irulan, who did not want to stay in Archadia. There Irulan and Enrico married in 884 AIC.

Despite Lodovico's retirement, he often spoke in both the Curia and Consilium as a guest speaker, advising against relying on passing new written laws. His stance can best be summarised by his speech to the Curia from 892 AIC: "The only true law is the constant search for justice. By writing a codex, you only serve the tyrant you so fear, for no one else knows better how to abuse a letter."

Lodovico passed away peacefully in Pontica in 901 AIC.

As the duchy was meant to pass on to his older brother, Leopold, Joseph was instead groomed for the military. He gained experience both by serving in the ducal guard and in the Royal and Imperial Army of Emperor [[István Nagy]]. In 853 AIC, he was appointed as commander of the Northern Royal Army, tasked with guarding the [[Nicolovia|capital]]. However, following the forming of the Noble Alliance by his father and duke [[Tomáš Bílín]] of [[Nedele]] in 855, István Nagy stripped him of his position and attempted to arrest him. However, Joseph and a handful of his loyal soldiers managed to escape Nicolovia and joined his father in the conflict that would quickly grow into a civil war.

He quickly amased fame and and was regarded as one of the most skilled military commanders on either side. He led the Noble Alliance in the battle of Poszotér in 857, in which the Royal Army was crushed, as well as the successful defense of Adlersberg in 858. However, his brother died in the same year during the second battle of Poszotér, leaving Joseph as the heir to the duchy. Following this, his father ordered him to return to Krachenmehr to defend the city, while Franz himself took the command of the Noble Alliance forces.

This eventually led to István Nagy's victory after he managed to capture and execute both Wallenstein and Bílín and dispersing the bulk of the Noble Alliance. However, as István Nagy first decided to pacify [[Archadia (city)|Archadia]] before turning on the rest of the Alliance, Joseph von Wallenstein managed to outlive his king, who was assassinated in the city in 860.

== Member of the [[Consilium Basileii]] ==

Following the ascension of [[Ottavio Makesini]] and his reforms, Joseph von Wallenstein became a member of the Consilium Basileii as one of the Nicolovian dukes. During that peaceful period, he mainly focused on administering Krachenmehr to the best of his abilites. He accepted the position of Senechal of the Imperial Guard in 863, but resigned after 2 years, wanting to instead focus on family life. In the Consilium, he was one of the key supporters of duke [[Baldassare Velisario]] in his attempts to legalize [[Sotiranity]] in the Empire, although these motions remained unsuccessful. In 874, he was the only member of the Consilium from non-Archadian provinces to attend the funeral of Emperor Ottavio.

Joseph von Wallenstein remained a close ally of now Emperor Baldassare and attended the [[Council of Vissegrad]] as such. As Baldassare was assassinated there, he quickly formed an alliance with [[Lodovico di Gonzaga]] and [[Vincenzo della Rovere]] to oppose autocratic tendencies of the regent [[Berenike Garantia]]. As an ageing man, he tried to use his authority to diffuse any potential conflicts, but when he was accused of murdering young Emperor [[Cleon Garantius]] in 882, he fled [[Garantinople]] and joined the quickly forming Consiliar Forces, starting the [[Imperial Civil War]]. As one of the few military leaders with any real battle experience in the all of Empire, he was appointed Commander-in-Chief and managed to defeat the outnumbering Imperial Army in the [[Battle of Lake Pontus]].

After Emperor [[Jahangir]] dissolved the Empire, Joseph von Wallenstein chose to remain loyal to the Consilium and brought Krachenmehr under the protection of Archadia, instead of choosing the [[Vladimirian Vozdh]].

He died in 891, being succeeded by his son Franz Leopold.

== King of Nicoloviana ==
István Nagy was elected king of Nicoloviana in 837 AIC after the death of his father Zoltán. His ascension marked the first time a dynastic heir assumed the throne in the whole existence of the Confederacy. The main reason behind this breaking of traditions was to prevent a civil war from happening as the Omnican Union and Sotiran League wanted to prevent the other side from gaining power and king Zoltán has always been seen as a neutral arbitrator. However, that proved futile as István quickly proclaimed his loyalty to the [[Omnicanism|Omnican Church]], allying with the newly appointed [[Heliarch]] [[Antonius Pius]]. Wanting to ensure the victory of the Omnican faith, he made a deal with the Heliarch: István Nagy would gain the control over the [[Order of Saint Castor of Karden]], with which he would cleanse [[Hasperia]] from all [[Sotiranity|Sotirans]].

István Nagy set his eyes on [[Archadia (city)|Archadia]], then controlled by the Sotiran [[Tor Ardwen]] regime. In 839 AIC he began a full scale invasion south. Order forces quickly captured the town [[Pontica]] and marched through the mountains towards Archadia, while the Nicolovian armies split - a half stayed in the north, blocking off any attempts of [[Vladimirian Vozdh]] to intervene on the side of Sotirans, while another half quickly blocked off [[Leopoli]], though they failed to capture the city. Following that, the southern armies joined at Archadia, quickly surrounding the city, with István Nagy leading the siege. As an Omnican uprising quickly began in the city, storming the dilapitated city walls was easy and on March 27, 840 AIC, for the first time in history, Archadia was conquered.

== Holy Archadian Emperor ==
István Nagy quickly reinstated the Heliarch in the city and as he effectively controlled both the sacral and secular power of the ancient Imperial Capital, he proclaimed himself the [[Emperors of Archadia|Holy Archadian Emperor]], Protector of all Faithful. However, István could not keep Nicolovian lands unattended, still fearing a Sotiran uprising, and as such left Archadia to tend for itself. Likewise, he never even visited [[Faendal]] to take control of the Order.

By 855 AIC, his attempts to crush Sotirans in Nicoloviana began having undesired effects. István had no qualms in using any weapon at his disposal, using expropriation, arrests and executions without holding court and even assassinations against anyone who became suspect of being a Sotiran. However, in attempts to centralize his holdings, István just as likely would have targeted an Omnican noble. This led to a secret meeting of informal leaders of the two religious groups, Omnican [[Tomáš Bílin]], Duke of [[Nedele]], and [[Franz von Wallenstein]], Duke of [[Krachenmehr]]. This sparked the [[Nicolovian Civil War]], in which both Sotiran and Omnican nobles fought the Emperor to preserve their rights.

In 860 AIC, the Noble Alliance sought for peace as the land was utterly ravaged by the constant warfare. István Nagy agreed to parlay, but then managed to capture both leaders and had them executed on spot, near the town of [[Vissegrad]]. He then decided to use his victory to curtail the rights of the Archadian [[Curia]]. His need to visit the city then increased even more so as he learned of the death of Antonius Pius. István Nagy entered Archadia in triumph, riding through the Triumphant Arch and taking residence in the old Imperial Palace. He declared his intention to appoint a new Heliarch the next day. However, as he climbed the stairs of the Curia, he was killed by his own guards. The motive of the act was never discovered, though many speculated that the guards were in league with either the Noble Alliance, or the Archadian Curia. He was succeeded by [[Ottavio Makesini]].

By age 17 he became a wanted man, for seducing and escaping with a local lord's daughter who was later found abandoned in a tavern.

He began his career on the seas after a night of heavy drinking when he was forced into a ship of ''La Royale'', of the Steyllch Royal Navy. After several years, he had gained enough experience to go about his own business. At first a smuggler, he explored the coasts of Western [[Hasperia]] and [[Arrakis]], moving special goods from places to others.

== Piracy ==
After some time, he set sail with a fine fishing ship he managed to buy with the little money he had left from his previous activities. The ship itself was nothing exceptional, but the special rigs design Black Eye put on it transformed it into a demanding yet agile and fast ship. He left [[Port aux Patois]], with a small crew, mostly made up of fellow criminals. His destination was the [[Spice Islands]] and its biggest nation, [[Nosamo]]. After a few months, he had managed to set up a crew of able pirates from many different countries. One of these recruits may have been [[Lydia Feuerhaar]], a thief from [[Vineta]].

Eventually, Enguerrand de Rochenoire travelled north to the shores of Eastern Hasperia. It was here that he orchestrated a [[Pirate Raid on Seedorf|raid]] on the small fishing village of [[Seedorf]]. Witnesses called the raid swift. Women were taken off, along with some rope, coin, food, and weapons.

The whereabouts of the pirate, and his ship called ''Black Ghost'', are unknown.
